In this unit, the user will learn to give personal information using the verb 'to be' in both the present and the past (full forms and contractions).
Objectives: To recognise the uses and functions of some basic forms and structures in the foreign language which have already been used. Specific: To learn to give personal information and to ask for information about others. Conceptual (declarative): Introducing yourself: Hi! My name is / I am years old./ I was born in / I live in Responding to personal questions: Whats your name? / How old are you? Where were you born? / Where do you live? / Present simple of the verb to be in affirmative, negative and interrogative forms. The past simple of the verb \'to be\' in the affirmative and interrogative. Review of the names of countries seen in the Countries learning sequence: Canada, Nigeria, Mexico, Jamaica, Australia, Spain, India, Ireland, Thailand, etc. Procedural: Ordering, matching, gap fills. Complete an e-mail introducing yourself. Write an e-mail introducing yourself. Attitude: Recognising and evaluating the importance of knowing how to read and write a foreign language. Prior knowledge: Knowledge of English from the second stage. Basic knowledge of the verb to be. View related learning guidance.
