The aim is for pupils to recognise the importance of self-knowledge and the control of the emotions and impulses as a factor to help them feel good about themselves (self-esteem)

Orientación didáctica:

General Objectives: Foster emotional competence to increase self-esteem and relations with others. Encourage identification of one's own emotions and their correct expression and control as a way of fostering self-esteem and decision-making which considers their consequences. Specific: Identify emotional states and foster their control and adequate expression. Recognise the influence of the control of the emotions on the consequences of behaviour on oneself and on others. Assess the control of impulsiveness as a factor which fosters social relations and self-esteem and allows reflection on the consequences of one's actions. Recognise the importance of having to wait for satisfactions to control impulsiveness and obtain rewards more in line with medium or long term objectives. Become familiar with strategies so as to face up to the anger of others by controlling one's own behaviour. Assess the importance of reflecting on the consequences of an action for oneself and for others before taking a decision. Appreciate the importance of self-knowledge in relation to processes of personal improvement and social relations. Contents – Conceptual Knowledge (declarative): Self-knowledge Self-esteem Control of the emotions Waiting for satisfactions Impulsiveness and its control Procedural impulsive behaviour: Recognition of the difficulties that impulsive behaviour represents in relation to social relations. Expression of emotions which must be controlled. Proposal of alternatives to impulsive behaviour. Use of strategies for controlling impulsiveness. Development of strategies for controlling one's emotions Prevention of the negative effects of impulsive behaviour of an attitude nature: Assessment of self-knowledge in relation to personal and social development. Interest in controlling and expressing emotions appropriately. Assessment of the control of impulsiveness and the desire for fast satisfactions as a factor to increase self-esteem. Assessment of the importance of reflection on the consequences of decision making born out of impulsiveness. Prior knowledge: They are not necessary. Access the learning guide for the sequence.
