Objectives: General: To read in detail a range of texts to extract general and specific information, in order to achieve a final objective of appreciating reading as a source of entertainment and information; to acquire the vocabulary required to describe this topic, using dictionaries, other techniques and the library as basic resources; to identify phonetic aspects relating to rhythm, stress and intonation; to examine linguistic structures and lexical aspects of the foreign language and to use these as basic communicative elements; and to work with and understand the socio-cultural dimension. Specific: To understand the difference between weather and climate; to understand the role of the Sun as a cause of weather conditions; to understand the Earth's atmosphere; to list some of the effects of solar heat on land and water and how this affects the weather; to analyse the causes of the seasons; to study the consequences of good and bad weather; to understand different types of rainfall; to understand various types of air flows, such as wind, tornados and hurricanes; to identify the measurement apparatus used in weather centres and what they measure; and to recognise the major weather symbols.
