Practice with measuring the surfaces of objects familiar to the student, using standardised units of measurement
Knowledge type: declarative, procedural
Learning outcomes: To know and use basic mathematical elements (measurements, numbers, units, symbols) in real or simulated real-life situations, and put into practice the processes of reasoning that lead to problem solving and obtaining information. To aid in the understanding of messages in which sizes are quantified, and inform about real situations where children must interpret them correctly. To measure familiar surfaces using conventional units of measurement, making use of instruments that are available in each case, as well as establishing the mechanisms in order to do so: unit selection, relationships between units and degree of reliability.
prerequisite knowledge: Length, measuring length, multiplication, DMS, use of a mouse and a calculator.
