Recognising social exclusion as a high risk situation for falling into poverty.
General Objectives: To understand the inter-relationship between poverty and social exclusion. Specific: To differentiate between the concepts of poverty and social exclusion. To recognise the interdependent relationship between poverty and social exclusion. To observe how scarcity and lack of earnings results in exclusion from ways of life which are considered acceptable in society, leading to marginalisation and social exclusion. Contents - Knowledge Conceptual (declarative): Social exclusion. Procedural: Differentiating between poverty and social exclusion. To recognise the interdependence between poverty and social exclusion. To observe situations where poverty does not imply exclusion, and vice versa. To observe how poverty impedes access to activities, goods and services which are considered acceptable and which are within the reach of the majority of the population. Attitude: Sensitivity to social exclusion. Prior knowledge: Not needed. Access the learning guide for the object.
