Description:

This unit is based on a brief review of what has been learnt about the topic (the learners should now know a lot), using slides/photos showing different types of weather and seeing if the learners can recognise them.

Teaching orientation:

Objectives: General: To read in detail a range of texts to extract general and specific information, in order to achieve a final objective of valuing reading as a source of entertainment and information. Specific: To understand the difference between weather and climate; to understand to role of the Sun's activity on the weather; to match words and illustrations; and to expand knowledge previously acquired in the other Language. Contents ? Knowledge Conceptual (declarative): ?What?s the weather like in this picture? Types of weather. Can you tell me different types of weather? Seasons IT IS/WAS ... sunny, raining, snowing, cloudy, warm, hot, cold, etc. Verb ?to be? in simple present & past. Procedural: Understanding specific information in messages. Matching words and images. Spelling correctly. Completing dialogues. Ordering sequences. Building phrases about a topic. To learn the basic vocabulary for the topic (just the words in bold). Attitude: Interest in learning about the weather and climate in English. Recognising and evaluating the importance of knowing how to read and write a foreign language. Listening carefully to pronunciation of all the words. Prior knowledge: Knowledge of English from the second stage. Knowledge previously acquired about the weather and climate in the first language.
