Learning outcomes: To determine the meaning of words by context and other sources of information. To be able to explain the meaning of the words and set phrases. To know the different types of dictionaries and the coding used for the information they contain. To know how to organise lexicon into semantic fields. To explain the meaning of words. To recognise the meaning of set phrases commonly used in speech. To know the origin of words that are commonly used in standard langauge.
