To know the electronic services and tools that use file transfers, as well as their purposes. To know the models that use both the FTP protocol and P2P networks for file transfers. To be able to name the general steps that FTP and P2P client applications perform during a transfer. To differentiate among the appropriate tools for file transfer, according to content type and usage environment. Specific outcomes: To understand the concept of the FTP file transfer protocol as a standard for use in file transfers. To be able to identify the minimum technological requirements: client application, server application and a communications channel in order to be able to perform a file transfer. To explain the strategies for dividing files up into small parts and their dispersion over different computers in order to achieve a file distribution that is redundant and efficient. To explain the purpose of file transfer services, such as forming part of social networks, providing services that aid in their growth. To define the FTP and P2P protocol models. To understand and introduce concepts of file systems as they apply to the Client Server Model. Server application, client application, underlying protocol. Station to station models. To describe and name ftp and p2p networks that offer appropriate electronic transfer services to meet our needs.
