Descripción:

In this unit the user will learn to ask for personal information. We will be using the verb "?to be"? in both the present and the past (full forms and contractions).

Orientación didáctica:

Objectives: To learn to ask for personal information. Specific: To learn to ask the questions needed to get information about other people: name, age, where they are from, where they live, hobbies, what their parents do, etc. Conceptual (declarative): Asking questions: What’s your name? / How old are you? Where were you born? / Where do you live? / Where is your school? / What are your hobbies? / What is your favourite sport/kind of music/food? Giving information on the jobs of parents and siblings, etc. Present simple of the verb ‘to be’ in affirmative, negative and interrogative forms. Parent’s jobs: teacher, bricklayer, shopkeeper, plumber, carpenter, secretary, photographer, engineer (searching mainly for those with no specific gender and which can be done by either the mother or father). Review of the names of countries seen in the ‘Countries’ learning sequence: Canada, Nigeria, Mexico, Jamaica, Australia, Spain, India, Ireland, Thailand, etc. Procedural: Matching questions and answers. Filling gaps in questions. Forming the questions for specific answers. Putting an e-mail asking for personal information into order. Completing an e-mail asking for personal information. Writing an e-mail asking for personal information. Attitude: Recognising and valuing the importance of knowing how to read and write a foreign language as a way of communicating with people from other countries. Prior knowledge: Knowledge of English from the second stage. Basic knowledge of the verb “to be”. View related learning guidance.
