The educational resource shows an interactive animation about Joule´s experiment: the mechanical energy of a mass falling from a certain height can be transformed into an increase in temperature inside a liquid.The mechanical energy is transformed into heat.

Orientación didáctica:

TEACHING OBJECTIVES : To specify the concept of energy and how the energy transfers itself between the material systems. Specifically to describe how when the potential energy decreases in a system, the temperature increases in the other system.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Concepts of temperature, potential energy and specific heat.

METHODOLOGY : Conceptual and procedural in a virtual environment.
