Gebze (antiker Name: Libyssa; altgriechisch: ????ssa; alte Namen Gekbuze, Ghviza, Gavize, Gebize; in dt. Schreibweise Dschebse (Gebze), Dschebize (Gebize)) ist eine t?rkische Industriestadt am Marmarameer in der Provinz Kocaeli.Gebze liegt heute am anatolischen Stadtrand von Istanbul. In der Umgebung der Stadt finden sich zahlreiche Industrieanlagen, die vor allem seit den 1990er Jahren st?ndig erweitert wurden.In der N?he von Gebze liegen die Istanbuler Ausflugsorte Tuzla und Darica. In Darica findet man den einzigen Tierpark von Istanbul. Im Jahre 183 v. Chr. beging Hannibal in Gebze Suizid, um einer Gefangennahme durch die R?mer zu entgehen.Im nahegelegenen Ort H?nkar ?ayre starb 1481 Sultan Mehmet II. Fatih, der Eroberer Konstantinopels.
