Description:

This unit reviews prior knowledge of weather vocabulary, and introduces new terms. Vocabulary activities: identify and separate the main elements of the weather (Clouds, Temperature, Wind, Precipitation, etc.)

Teaching orientation:

Objectives: General: To acquire practical learning skills, and to transfer communication strategies and knowledge to other languages. To use this language progressively as a medium for learning content for the topic. Specific: To understand the elements involved in the weather and climate; to match words and illustrations; and to understand the importance of expanding knowledge previously acquired in the other Language. Contents ? Knowledge Conceptual (declarative): You need to know the main elements that make up the weather, such as temperature, precipitation and wind. You also need to understand how these elements operate on their own and together to produce a range of weather conditions. SUN + WIND (air) + WATER (sea) = WEATHER ?With their Symbols?. What are the two main things in the solar system that make up the weather ? The SUN / The EARTH What are the three main things on EARTH that make up the weather ? Land masses, oceans (WATER), atmosphere (AIR). Does the air stay still or does it move continuously ? IT MOVES What's the name of the moving air? WIND Procedural: Differentiating the visible elements involved in the weather and climate. Giving brief description of these elements. Attitude: Interest in learning about the weather and climate in English. Recognising and evaluating the importance of knowing how to read and write a foreign language. Listening carefully to pronunciation of all the words. Prior knowledge: Knowledge of English from the second stage. Knowledge previously acquired about the weather and climate in the first language.
