THE ATMOSPHERE IS SICK

Worksheet overview

Description:

MAIN TASK: Students make proposals to help improve the quality of the air we breathe. To make this happen it is vital to reduce emissions of pollutant gases, There are many devices and activities which emit gases, but students limit their proposals to means of transport. Discussion and proposals will be based on the following steps: * Calculating CO2 emissions * Reducing CO2 emissions * Balancing CO2 emissions OBJECTIVE: Air is vital for human beings to survive. This is why we need to monitor and look after the quality of the air. You might think this should be the responsibility of governments and those in charge of industry, but one way or another we all emit polluting gases. This means that all of us, including schoolchildren, have an important job to do in relation to this issue. In this sequence we want students to feel that they have an active, important part to play in dealing with air pollution.
