In this section, the user will learn to give information about themselves and others: name, age, where they are from, family, pets, etc.

Teaching orientation:

Objectives: General: To read, listen to and prepare a range of texts related to personal experiences and interests, extracting and providing general and specific information to meet a final objective. To value the foreign language, and languages in general, as a means of communication and understanding between people from a range of background and cultures, and as a tool for learning a range of subjects. Specific: To become familiar with the formulas for presenting and identifying yourself in English, and to understand the personal information given. To recognise and absorb the grammatical forms for personal questions and how to answer them, using them to achieve efficient communication. Developing working habits, both individually and in groups, working with others to carry out the activities successfully. To carry out tasks adequately. To learn the vocabulary and structures required for the basic communication needs that the user will have when they contact users of the other language. To respect socio-cultural aspects of various English-speaking countries. Conceptual (declarative): Functions: Asking for and giving personal information: name, age, where from, hobbies, family, pets, etc. Grammar: Review of the present simple of ‘to be’ in affirmative, negative and interrogative forms. The past simple of the verb 'to be' in the affirmative form. Review of the present simple of ‘to have’ in affirmative, negative and interrogative forms. Vocabulary: Review of the names of countries seen in the ‘Countries’ learning sequence. Parents’ jobs (searching mainly for those with no specific gender and which can be done by either the mother or father). Review of the names of pets from a previous learning unit. Review of family members. Procedural: Understanding specific information in written messages. Matching words and images. Matching questions and answers. Writing letters and e-mails. Gap fills. Ordering sequences. Attitude: Receptive and respectful attitude to people who speak a different language. Appreciating correct understanding and production of simple texts. A positive and optimistic attitude to learning a foreign language. Recognising and evaluating the importance of knowing how to read and write a foreign language.
