Olympia is a painting by Édouard Manet, first exhibited at the 1865 Paris Salon, which shows a nude female lying on a bed being brought flowers by a female servant. The painting caused shock and astonishment because she looks at the viewer with confrontational gaze and is adorned with a number of details identifying her as a prostitute. Completed in 1863, it measures 130.5 by 190 centimetres (51 x 74.8 in). The nation of France acquired the painting in 1890 after a public subscription organized by Claude Monet. The painting is on display at the Musée d'Orsay, Paris.
