LEARNING OBJECTIVES:to learn that lakes are depressions in the earth's surface of differing sizes, which contain water and which may have originated due to a fault trough, ice from the glaciers, a volcano crater or runoff from internal basins with no outlet to the sea

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:to learn that Lake Superior (84,131 Km2) is the largest lake in the world except for the Caspian Sea

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:to learn that the Great Lakes area of North America consists of Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie and Ontario, and that the Niagara Falls are located between the latter two lakes

PRIOR KNOWLEDGE:prior knowledge of the subject on the location of the lakes, gulfs and islands of the American continent is required. The subject must previously have been taught by the teacher in class and the students must have acquired the necessary prior knowledge

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:to learn that most lakes in America are located in the north of the continent

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:to learn that Lake Titicaca is located in the centre of South America, that it is the continent's largest lake and that it is the highest navigable lake in the world (3810 m altitude), located in south-eastern Peru and western Bolivia

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:to learn that an island is a piece of land totally surrounded by sea
