The Silver Skates”, or Hans Brinker is the story of a poor Dutch boy and his family. Hans wants to take part in a race, but has homemade wooden skates. Students will read how Hans and his family handled the race and who should have the money a rich girl gave Hans. Free printable activities are included with an excerpt from the story to help build comprehension skills. The activities are designed for 4th and 5th grade but can be used for any grades as appropriate.
