Magnetic Resonance Images for Diagnosis

Fitxa resum

Descripció:

Through a virtual scenario, the aim is to make the students familiarise themselves with magnetic resonances for diagnosis. To make them able to know and apply the protocols established to perform this treatment and to be able to work in an MR image data bank to recognise and identify in the studies of anatomic regions their projections, planes and cross-sections, localisation of anatomic structures and their structural ratio.

Orientació didàctica:

TEACHING GOALS: GENERAL: To identify in MR multiplanar images: To recognise, name and position, identifying laterality, joints and bones which constitute: upper limb, lower limb, chest cage, spine column, skull and face. To recognise, name and position, identifying laterality, the organs and structures that are in the: thoracic cavity, abdominal cavity, pelvic cavity, spinal cord and breast. To identify in the MR image the anatomic region of interest, image plane, cross-sections and type of sequence. SPECIFIC CONCEPTUAL: To understand the relationships existing between the systems that compose the anatomic structures of the human body. To relate the anatomic structures of the human body which take part in the movement and the postural attitude with the locomotor and postural function. To know the human anatomic structures for endocrine and nervous regulation, in relation to the functionality of each system. To identify the recorded anatomic structures that are part of the different systems of the human body: thorax, abdomen, heart, skull, lumbosacral spine and spine column. To identify the most relevant pathologies in: tumour masses, cysts, haemorrages, breaking of soft tissues, strokes, aneurysms, intracraneal or in the heart, the large arterial vessels, in the spine or vertebral disks, in the glands and abdominal organs, as well as in the soft structures of joints and muscles. To choose the most significant images that have to be exposed on the radiographic film for radiotherapy treatments. SPECIFIC PROCEDURAL: To have an overall view of the different processes of graphic records with equipment for computerised processing of MR images, to obtain images for the diagnosis. To understand the centring, planning and exploration operations performed for the different anatomic regions. To apply the knowledge of MR image in the treatment simulation and planning procedures in Radiotherapy. To relate MR images with projections and positions of the patient in Radiotherapy simulators. To explain the process of image identification in the monitor, relating it to the methodology to choose the most significant images that have to be exposed on radiographic film. SPECIFIC ATTITUDINAL: To put the student in front of new situations for him, since it is implicit in the random nature of the data generation. To encourage team work. To strengthen the bases of work organisation, both in time allocation and in work distribution. To encourage the students to assume responsibility for the tasks entrusted to them. To accustom the students to work with great amounts of data. To educate the students in the organisation of the information, both written and in computer files. To encourage the willingness to self-learning. To encourage the students to look for exactness and quality in the job. To show resistance to stress, balanced state of mind and self-control. To identify unforeseen problems and contingencies. To act quickly and independently to solve unforeseen events. To solve problems and make decisions within the scope of their area of responsibility, consulting about those decisions when necessary due to their repercussions.
