Abusive use of coerced labour as a way of settling debts.

Orientación didáctica:

General Objectives: To understand the concept of servitude for debts as a form of slavery which affects adults and children in their own countries or in countries where they are migrants. To encourage rejection of this kind of slavery. Specific: To understand the concept of servitude for debts To identify the causes of this. To understand that this issue arises among landless workers in poor countries. To find out about the system of micro-credit as a way of freeing people from poverty and, as a result, from servitude. To relate the debts contracted by emigrating with situations of servitude for debts in the country of arrival. Contents ? Conceptual Knowledge (declarative): Servitude for debts Micro-credits Procedural: Identification of some of the causes of servitude for debts: extreme poverty, low wages, family or personal debts, debts incurred to leave a country. Recognition of the prevalence of this among landless workers in poor countries and migrants who acquire debts in the destination country. Analysis of the micro-credits system as an alternative to poverty and servitude which respects human rights. Attitude: To reject servitude for debts. To appreciate alternative forms of alleviating poverty, such as micro-credits. Prior knowledge: Not needed. Access the learning guide for the object.
