LEARNING OBJECTIVES:to learn that the continental climate occurs in the interior of the continents, and that it is characterised by long, cold winters and short, hot summers. Precipitation is very scarce (less than 500 mm annually) and the thermal amplitude is very wide (over 15ºC)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:to learn that the continental climate is also known by the names "dry mid-latitude climate" and "wet continental climate" in Arthur Strahler's climate classification

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:to learn that the "dry mid-latitude climate" (Continental) is found in central North America, leeward of the Rocky Mountains. It does not occur in South America

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:to learn that the "wet continental climate" (Continental) is found in the north-western United States and in southern Canada, and in a very narrow area in the north-eastern United States and south-western Canada. It does not occur in South America
