Vain, vein and vane sound alike, but their meanings are different.
Vain is an adjective meaning without a result or being overly proud of one’s appearance. Vein is usually a noun meaning a blood vessel, a deposit of minerals or an attitude. Vane is a noun meaning either an instrument used to detect wind direction (often called a weather vane) or the flat blades of a weather vane. Is it vein, vane, or vain? Use the printable worksheet to correctly complete each sentence. You may find it helpful for Common Core Standards for Language for 4th grade, although it may also be useful for other students.
